There is _one_ place where DHCP and the "windows neighborhood" can coexist -
cablemodem networks. Most cablemodem providers (at least stateside) have
their network set up as a huge LAN, assigning 10./8 addresses doing internal
NAT, or assigning IPs from a publicly accessible IP block using DHCP.
Either way, 'doze users on a cable network see the network as one gigantic
network neighborhood (again, this underscores the idea of NOT running Samba,
or open netbios shares, on any IP directly accessible from the Internet).
