Use perl itself if you are comfortable with it. Suggested  ref
material are:

a) MySQL & mSQL [Randy Jay Yagner,  George Reese  &  Tim King]
   Orielly (Indian edn. Shroff Publishers & Distributors, Cal)

b) Mastering Perl 5 [Eric C Herrmann] BPB Publication, Delhi.

Randall Schwartz is another man to look out for. A  real  guru
