---end quoted text--- To me this apears to be the problems of 1024-voodoo, with the /boot below the 1024 cyl limits. Since the first 6 GB has Win-9x, this is the likely source of problem with old LILO/ BIOS combinations. It would be advisable under such cases to forget LILO and boot through loadlin.
