I'm not sure if your installation will work. I tried installing oracle 8i 
8.1.7 on the same distro (pcq 7.1) and it kept failing with many dependency 
errors. I solved a few, but then got fed up and let it go.... I'm using 
postgreSQL now. Your mileage may vary. And IIRC, Oracle recommends only 
Redhat 6.2 for Oracle 8i.

Do you have enough ram on your box.... atleast 128Megs is recommended.. the 
more the better. And I hope you've upgraded the distro.... specifically, 
you'll need to upgrade your glibc with the latest update that redhat 
provides... or your oracle installer will not even start up.

On a side note, if you do get Oracle 8i working on a pcqlinux 7.1 box, I 
would be interetsed in hearing about it.
