There is a small creavat here. In a multi-OS system, it is possible to have one (and only one) alternate OS on an exten- ded logical partition, since all extended-logicals have just one boot record, belonging to the mother extended. It is therefore advisable to have all bootable OSs installed on a PRIMARY partition since each has its own boot sector and independent boot records can be written to it. Secondly, once partition types for different OSs are written it makes the root file systems unique, and inaccessable from recognition by most OSs unless specifically mounted. Saves a lot of inad- vertent errors. This Large-Disk problem is a different cup of tea ... and is well bovered in the Large-Disk-HOWTO. Use the [update-rc.d] program meant for changing init parameters in Sys-V init process. All system startup links for /etc/init.d/xdm will be removed. viz #update-rc.d -f xdm remove (or gdm / kdm) ####<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>################################### : _______________________________________________ linux-india-help mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-india-help
