Well PC Quests move to bring Caldera on Cdrom seems to be a purely
commercial move , done in favour of Caldera for some incentives ! rather
than community service to the linux in India.
Caldera was once a popular distro but its popularity has been on the
downfall since a couple of yrs.
A quick look into the cdrom will tell u that nearly all of the softs r of
older version than RH 7.1 . ..oops PCQ Linux 7.1 , so distributing Caldera
seems to be a rather unproductive move.
If PCQ wanted to distribute an alteranate distro which is sleek and less
bloated then they should have given Debian or much better Slackware (May its
tribe grow!).
Or if PCQ wanted to show the ease of linux then they should have tried
Mandrake or Suse.
Or even much better they should have released upgrades to the existing RH
7.1 (7.2 Is out since a
couple of months).
IMHO Caldera is one CD wasted for PCQ Readers.
There seems to be no reason for a linux user specially a non techie user
to move to Caldera from RH 7.1.
