I have a 40 GB hard disk divided into 4 partitions, all of which are FAT
partitions. The 4rth partition is completely empty and I want to reclaim
this space and make ext2 partitions for installing Red Hat Linux 7.1. When
I tried installing Linux on that partition (that is, FAT partition), it
told me that neither the root partition nor the swap partition could be of
size greater than 2000 MB.

I want to mount my other partitions (the ext2 partitions that I wish to
create by reclaiming that 10 GB) on /var, /home, etc. I want to know
if
the 2000 MB limit is applicable to theses directories as well.

Please help me!
