Sendmail is not a pop3 server.  It is an smtp server out of the box.

So install a pop3 server if you want pop3

Expected?  And why is that?

If you give a few more details of just what you want to do (or better still,
read http://www.sendmail.org/faq/ for a while first) we might help.

ps - If the rest of your linux box is as old as sendmail 8.9.3 (likely redhat
6.2 or something?) upgrade it all ASAP
