There are few cards, which are smart enough to detect type
of cable you are using. That mean you can use either BNC (
coaxial ) or UTP. But in older one you have to configure
card using floppy comming with card to tell that you are
going to use this type of cable. This information is stored
on EPROM of LAN card.
