I have 2 machines running Linux (Red Hat 7.0) that
I might term "standalones" ie: these machines
do not seem to even do the basic thing of pinging each
other , though they are sitting on the same LAN
and have their network cards configured.

I want to have these 2 Linux standalones communicate ,
as a network ... ping , telnet , ftp and even do socket programs.

How should I start off ?

I shall greatly appreciate any help on this.

Regards,
Shyam
