Hi,

I am using RedHat Linux 7.1 with GNOME as the Window Manager. When I logon to
my Linux Box, the keyboard repeat rate is not set properly, so that the use of
arrrow keys are really draging.

I tried kbdrate and it worked fine in the shell (text mode), but when i put it
in the inittab and rebooted in the run level 5 (X) the console said that it had
set the keyboard rate sucessfully, but when I tested it in the X, it was still
not properly set.

I also tried the keyboard settings of both GNOME and KDE. Both were of no use.

Recently I logged on in the single user mode for some maintanace, and I
accidently found out that the keyboard was working fine in that mode.

Why is this happening? Is there anything wrong in other run levels? Which all
config files should I look into?

I want to mention that the BIOS settings are made to set it at 30cps.

Please help me to sort it out.

Thank You
Dino Cherian K
