 |KDE 2.2.2 that I have is 90MB (approx). This is with Qt and koffice,
 |downloaded as RedHat RPMS. This also includes redundant stuff like
 |qt-static, kdepim etc. (but excludes all the languages except English).

I think the one that ships with redhat is close to 200MB for the full
install.

 |Come on guys - give KDE a break. ;-) Its not all that bad, you know.

I didn't say it was bad ... just that I could live without it! ;-)

 |konqueror loads for me in under 3 seconds. Mozilla takes 18-20 seconds.

0.9.8 takes 13 seconds to load *and* quit on my p3-733 w/256MB which is
pretty decent IMO (but how much time does konqueror take to load if KDE
isn't running ??)... but once it's loaded mozilla is pretty fast ... I'm
slowly falling in love with it... esp. since I've customised it a bit...

BTW check out oeone.com to see mozilla taken to the extreme!

I have no idea why people can't ship software that looks great out of the
box!(esp. the fonts and stuff)(this goes for all the browsers from
netscape to opera and konqueror to mozilla)

 |unfair - KDE is a full desktop environment, whereas fvwm is only a window

All I need a window manager for is to manage a whole bunch of xterms a few
browser windows and ICQ ... a desktop environment is overkill for that
purpose..
