Dumb terminal do have processor though tis processor is used for handling interaction with devices like keyboard/monitor etc.. For everything else processing power of server is utilised.. IMO the functional difference between a machine and a dumb terminal is absence of HDD/floppy drive in dumb terminal. That's optional as well..
