Thanks Mayuresh, I was offline on Sunday hence the delay in response. Basically I'm teaching myself Linux; I've been experimenting - on and off - various aspects/options/applications in/of Linux.
I visited the VNC site - and I'll certainly be trying it out - but what I was looking for was a Terminal capable of performing all - well almost all - functions expected of a full-fledged desktop system...the terminal may not be the latest/newest config but should perform well...and it would need the GUI display since the general user would prefer it over CUI.... and remote boot offers many advantages in addition to the obvious economy of the system. Do you think VNC fits the bill? I quote "... It is, in essence, a remote display system which allows you to view a computing 'desktop' environment not only on the machine where it is running, but from anywhere on the Internet and from a wide variety of machine architectures....". Thanks again Ajay Shankar > There is a far superior technology available than using the sickly and > out dated X Windowing System. > Please google for something called VNC (Virtual Network Computing). > I had done a pilot project at my previous employer and the results were > stunning (it performs even over stupid telephone networks). > > Awaiting your reply with the _exact_ nature of your requirement. > > Warm Regards, > > ~Mayuresh _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
