You do not need the CD to make your boot-disks. The boot-disk is
going to be specific for your system, depending upon where and
how on the HDD Linux lies. You should not attempt copying from
some other working box.

It may not work ... reasons stated above.

Which is your Win distribution ?

For 9x and Family (viz 9x and ME) dual boot with loadlin through
config.sys or autoexec.bat. Loadlin is available with nearly all
distros. The last update was in 1997, so any distro would do.

For Win-NT and family (viz NT, 2k and XP), dual boot through the
NT boot.ini file.

For detailed instructions on how to do a dual boot with either
Loadlin or NT boot loader, visit:
http://geocities.com/usmbish/hdi.html

The only problem that I envisage is that for loadlin, the kernel
is needed on the Win partition. If the kernel on your old boot
disks are not corrupt, it should do.

Once you have got into Linux, make a few boot disks specific for
your box with the mkbootdisk command. Then re-run 'lilo -v' to
re-install LILO in your MBR, after checking your /etc/lilo.conf.
