The point is that he sent this mail privately to a group of persons that he does not know personally. If you've ever been affected by something like this, you'll know how annoying it can be. Even worse, when others on the Cc list start doing a reply all. I once got caught in the middle of something like this with about 50/60 people on the list. I was receiving mails every second. -- The UNIX philosophy basically involves giving you enough rope to hang yourself.
