Is it running under svscan?
Was it able to resolve yahoo.com the first time around - especially if you are
on a dialup, a hiccup in connectivity can cause this problem

# svstat /service/dnscache/
# svstat /service/tinydns/

Should not take too much time querying the root servers ... and once you build
up a rich dnscache, all the queries are accessible from localhost.
If you use the ISP's dns server you have to make sure the ISP knows how to run
a dns server... most of the ISPs around (like eth) run VERY flaky servers.

Does the name suggest anything different?

a) #ifconfig ... confirms that interface is configured
b) To re-confirm that the interface has not dropped dead (e.g.
on cable) ping the other host as well.
