Dear All, I started a project to migrate an existing LAN running on NetWare 4.11 to Linux [PCQLinux 7.1].
Old Config: Server : Netware 4.11 - NDS, SPX/IPX Nodes : Win98 Client for Netware LAN : 10Mbps 10bT New Config: Server : PCQLinux 7.1 - TCP/IP, Samba, DNS, DHCP Nodes : Win98 Client for Microsoft Networks LAN : Same as above Problem : Previously when logging on to Netware the login script sets some DOS environment varibles and the path. So that when going to MSDos prompt [StartMenu-Programs-MSDosPrompt] the env-vars & path are always set. Have written a startup.bat and kept it in /home/netlogon so that it is executed when logging in. Unfortunately the DOS env-vars from the script are not saved globally so that at MSDosPromt they are not available. Part of Netware Script: DOS SET USR=%USER DOS SET USRNM=%FULL_NAME DOS SET STATION=%STATION DOS SET _GR=%GROUP Part of STARTUP.BAT SET USR=ami SET USRNM=amitava sen SET _GR=admin Is it possible to do same as Netware? Some application programs in Foxpro [DOS] call these env-vars to check who the user is. I have found a work around but would like to know if there is another way.
