Thanks.  I had stumbled across the plussed user docs as well during my 
own investigations.

Mailman is not an option.  There a numerous mailing lists (literally in 
the hundreds) and a propreitary solution (using bounce processing tools 
from mailman, mj2 etc.) is the answer for me.  I wish I could do it with 
off-the-shelf mj2 (my favorite from years of using it ;-).  Besides, it 
is not my decision.
