yes, this thread was informative
I has no clue of a tool like printconf-gui
i tried it and i could successfully connect
to the printer on the windows m/c
However, i'm not getting any output :-(
Is it because of driver clash?
The printer is a HP Deskjet 640C,
and that driver is not available in the driver options
of printconf-gui
Also, printing from kmail or konqueror fails.

the following at least connects to the printer
$ cat testprint.txt | lpr

But it outputs a blank page or sometimes some rubbish
Any clues?

Thanx
