Hi I managed to solve the "modem not responding problem". Here's
a
copy of my wvdial.conf if someone has a similar probloem. I
changed
the init string from ATZ to AT&F ....

[Modem0]
Modem = /dev/ttyS0
Baud = 115200
Init1 = ATZ
SetVolume = 1
Dial Command = ATDT
Init4 = ATM1L3

[Dialer Defaults]
Modem = /dev/ttyS0
Baud = 115200
Init1 = AT&F E0 V1 &C1 &D2 S95=47 S10=250 X3 L3
Init2 = AT S11=50
SetVolume = 1
Dial Command = ATDT
Init4 = ATM1L3
Phone = 4880000
Password = aaaaaaa
Username =  aaaaaa

[Dialer MTNL]
Phone = 4880000
Password = aaaaaaa
Username = aaaaaaa
Inherits = Modem0
Stupid mode = 0

[Dialer MTNL0]
Phone = 4880000
Password = aaaaaa
Username = aaaaaa
Inherits = Modem0
Stupid mode = 0

Obviously I've changes the uname and the password but isnt
storing
uname and password in plain text like this a vulnerability ?
Most
people use the same password for a lot of things.

Anyways
Bye
Mini

Yoda: No! Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try.
