Hi! I am unable to use automount feature for my CDROM drive on slackware 8.1 despite my struggle of about a week.
My configuration is as follows: Computer: PIII, 133MHz, i810 board, IDE CDROM drive. Under /dev, /dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdb Permissions for /dev/hdb are 0666 In fstab: /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 auto, owner,ro 0 0 in /etc/rc.d/rc.autofs: /usr/sbin/automount --timeout 10 /mnt/cdrom file /etc/auto.cdrom in /etc/auto.master: /mnt/cdrom /etc/auto.cdrom in /etc/auto.cdrom cdrom -fstype=iso9660,ro :/dev/hdb Despite all this configuration, when I insert a CD, nothing happens. I have to manually mount the CD using "mount". dmesg showed my following error message related to CDROM drive: cdrom: open failed. No idea why I am getting this error, because after login I can mount the CD manually and access it without any problem. Any help/tips in fixing this problem are highly appreciated. Thanks, Atul. __________________________________________________________________ Your favorite stores, helpful shopping tools and great gift ideas.
