hello,
I have an i810 m/b with p3 633mhz processor,20gb hdd configured for dual
booting win98 and mandrake8.0
Problem: I am booting using lilo. I am able to access my windows
partition
by lilo,but when I try to access mandrake, it goes upto INIT and asks for
runlevel. Once I give runlevel 3 or 5, then it does not init mandrake and
exists saying no more processes left in this level.
I am able to go into single mode and rescue mode. I checked as suggested in
the list to check my inittab file, but find it empty. I have another
inittab.OLD file which I am unable to write to inittab. I get an error saying
no space in the filesystem,whereas I do have space.
Do any of you have an idea how to rectify this? will writing to the inittab
file help me load mandrake again? any help and pointers for this will be much
appreciated. Otherwise I may have to reformat the hdd and reload everything,
losing all my data.
