Thanks for the URL ... it sure is a truckload of information! But what I am looking for is a lot more mundane than that. I need actual numbers - subnets, ports, prefixes, header fields etc that people accept, deny, forward etc. Real rules that are used in real setups. I need to look at the nature of the rules in real world applications while designing the classifier. BTW, all this is in hardware; hence iptables and ipchains don't matter ...
