You shouldn't be using telnet!! ;-)

At home I use rxvt+bash+ssh (cygwin).. I even get *nix style select with
mouse and right click to paste!! :-)

When I'm on the road I normally download putty and run it.

PS: This question just made me realise that it's been ages since I actually
used the windows telnet client! or any telnet client for that matter.
