Hi All, Todays economic times has full page ad from Compaq. Notably there is a desktop machine preloaded with linux and it's cheap.
The machine is P-IV-1.7G/i845G/128MB DDR RAM/40GB HDD/15" CRT as base config and the pricing goes as follows. Linux:- INR. 39,990/- 1 Year carry in warranty XP Home:- INR 44,990/- 3 Year limited Warranty XP Porf.:- INR 49,990/- 3 Year limited Warranty Additional INR 999/- for 3 year limited warranty for linux. AFAIK, for the first time a PC is cheap because it's not carrying a windows logo. Dell priced linux desktops same as windows ones. I guess in that additional 10,000, one can get the memory up to 512MB plus something more as well.. Good to see it. The config. is not bad IMO.. If somebody gets the relevant page from HP site, that would be great as well.
