I am considering going in for cable internet access at my home from Hathway. They have a night access scheme (8 pm to 8 am) that I am sorely tempted to go in for. Most of my internet connection from home is anyway done in the night after I am done at the clinic.
What I want is to have a sort of best of both worlds scenario. This brings me to my query: Would it be possible to have internet access thru both cable modem as well as a dial-up (keeping dial-up basically as a sort of backup option if I urgently need to go online during the daytime) on the same machine. I am *not* talking about simultaneous use of cable and dial-up modems, (though this seems very doable seeing that there are available hybrid modems that use the regular telephone line from upstream traffic). I will anyway have to have dial-up access from my clinic but my online time from the cliic is like a few minutes daily. Even some pointers to links will be helpful. thanks, Sharukh. -- Dr. Sharukh K.
