I assume that you have not formated the win me disk when you did your install. if the answer to my assumption is "not formated" proceed..
1. boot win98 from a floppy/CD 2. see if you can see the windoze drives can dir them. if that is done then unplug the HDD and connect to another system preff with a CD writer and runing windoze. 3. backup your data on the CD Take a deep breath i know you should be quite capable of restoring the windoze data yourself. PS i have not had very friendly experiences when i do a upgrade from say RH 7.x to RH 7.2x what ever. I would recomend clean install if its not a production machine else update kernels / packages manually. Hope this helps.
