hi thanx for the inputs but the problem is still there if the peer computer is Windows 2000 prof or advancedserver but smb works fine with win98 also i am able to send dialog messages to the windows 2000 systems and when i do smbclient -L \\COMPUTERNAME it asks me for password which i provide but it says NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
