I followed Binand's suggestion , and dowloaded the linux-2.4.19 itself (30.73 MB in size) . I have actually have 2 complaints about 2.4.19 so far , and I will raise one : on the other kernel version I still use : 2.2.19pre17, (and on all other 2.2.x kernels) , when I give "append=on" , in the lilo.conf (I use lilo not grub) , all other kernels power off on shutdown -h , but 2.4.19 shows the message "Power off " or something like that , and it is up to you to put off the switch.
My guess (wild guess) is that may be the apmd is old or antiquated, (but good enough for 2.2.x) may be , I have to get a newer one - one that 2.4.19 can use. Am I right ?
