Exactly what I've been doing. I've put /var and /etc/rc.d on ramdisk.
You're sure about putting /dev also on ramdisk? I've put it on loopback but
it has not complained as yet.
By the way, is it possible to change the size of the ramdisk without
recompiliing the kernel; say using rdev?
