Yeah. I have a printout of /sbin/fdisk -l /dev/hda. But when I had to recover I went through the install CD Expert mode, Fdisk, I manually entered all the entries. I did not use DD. What is the addressing scheme for the partition table (eg./dev/hdax ) in Linux terminology. Plain hd[abcd]?

That's actually true. I've lost my two FAT32 partitions, and almost
about to lose my ext2 partition, but my data still exists on the hard
disk. fdisk -l is all I need to know to be able to rebuild everything
on a new hard disk. (I'll use dd to copy the data across after I
recreate the partitions).

OpenOffice 1.x
--------------------
BTW I dont have problems with Openoffice 1.x on RedHat 8.0 though I feel RH8.0 is not the best 8.x distro yet. It could be flaky hardware in Pramatesh's case. If it does startup try increasing the Memory allotted to Graphic cache (tools-options-openoffice.org-Memory)to a sizeable value. The default is a pathetic 9MB. Startup times are drastically reduced by manipulating this value. Also I got my CD's from Linuxplaza.org. They are also good and for two CDs(Rs.35 each) from them you get only one from Clintongoveas.
Mandrake 9.0 is better. Seems to be about 2-4% faster and no problems with MP3's. Mozilla is 1.1(RH 8.0 is 1.0.1)

G.Sriram.
