Actually those are not loopback devices as such. Those are loop devices mwhich means 
that you can mount something on your system on to those loop devices. Means thes loop 
devices are not any physical devices. And there is nothing such as loopback device but 
there is a loopback interface(lo for that matter) or localhost which has an address of 
127.0.0.1 and is used for the system to communicate with itself even if any physical 
device such as ethernet or a modem is not there.
