After installing Debian on one of the computers, I was most surprised to
note that the normally docile mice had turned into a naughty shrew. Just
a mere tap would sent it into a fit, dashing across the screen, opening
one window, closing another, operating some command from the menu,
before hiding into an obscure corner of the screen behind an open
window, only to start flitting again when discovered. 

It took me one full day to discover I had installed 'gpm' unknowingly,
and once I uninstalled it, I had tamed my shrew.
