qmail is another one of them. http://www.qmail.org,
http://www.lifewithqmail.org - lwq is an excellent guide, and setting up
according to the way mentioned there will leave yu with almost an
enterprise class mission critical email solution, in your home pc, and
its not difficult configuring it (as opposed to sendmail).

perhaps maybe yu need more control. yu want to be cent percent sure that
the mail has been delivered to the other end and there are not dependent
on your isp's smtp server. maybe because yu connect to different isps,
and changing the smtp servers is a big hassle everytime yu wish to send
emails. maybe because your isp (e.g. vsnl.com, mantraonline.com) do not
allow @someotherdomain.com except their own domains (@vsnl.com), maybe
it is a real pleazure watching the queue and see "DONE" (in qmail queue)
when the mail has been delivered to a certain address ;)
