[LIH]configure dns

Hi,
I am trying to configure the dns sever ( master and slave ) on linux 
diff machines.Where i need to edit the files.
I tried in editing /etc/named.conf and /var/named/ ....there domain.zone 
domain.rr.zone ...Still i couldnt make the dns server up.
give me some tips on that .
