I am using RH 7.2 in my machine. Last feb 14 i faced a problem. when i give
a command "ls| more" the process just hangs. On investigating i found that
many files (ls, mv, rm, netstat, etc) is affected (ie the time and size of the
files is changed). So i reinstalled the machine taking backup of my data.
Again on March 14, i found the same problem. But i am able to continue to
work. But some process remains in "Z" state (zombie). I unable to find the
reason. Again investigating I found that size and time of files are changed. Is this some virus/work attack?

Surely it seems that your system is under attack. Also the hacker has installed rootkit on your system. Is this machine directly connected to the internet and not thru proxy ? I guess not.
Check out http://www.chkrootkit.org/ and see if your machine has got rootkit installed and how to get rid of it. Looks to be ssh vulnerability. Try upgrading to latest ssh pack for rh7.2 , oh well first of all install rh7.2 updates. And while installing pls disconnect
your machine from the net.
