yes, i found this option and am currently installing linux on the machine inside vmware. tell me is it possible for me to somehow install lilo on the actual MBR once i am inside the virtual machine of vmware ? ---------------------------------- Whether you have installed the virutal machine in a seperate partition(raw disk install) or even if you have done an ordinary .vmdk file install..... the guest OS treats the first cylinder of the partition where you have installed Linux as the MBR. Also any attempt to write onto the actual MBR has to be done via the host OS... That would crash the system. Writing onto the actual MBR is not supported in any version of VMwar whether it is ESX,GSX or workstation. Interesting question though... regards Tom Vmware ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email sponsored by: Free pre-built ASP.NET sites including Data Reports, E-commerce, Portals, and Forums are available now.
