It basically depends on the model and features... and the manufacturer... a
top of the line ASUS card with video-in/out etc would cost you well over 10k
..  but a low end/basic model would be available for a lot less... and also
whether it's a AGP 4x or 8x card... and if it's from a Manufacturer other
than ASUS the price drops further.

Unless someone sold you a low end card for a high price ... there's no need
to feel cheated... ofcourse whether you actually need the perf. boost that
you "might" get from the more expensive card is an altogether different
issue!

Rule of thumb is to go in for hardware that is one-rung below the
top-of-the-line models if you want the best value for money.
