I am using 2.6.0-test3 without any problems whatsoever :)

regarding  - "drivers/char/riscom8.o" -error2

just disable the SDL RISCom/8 card support and recompile and you should
be home.
Or just disable Non-Standard serial port support under "Character
devices". I am sure you might not require them :)

While compiling the kernel do keep in mind to deselect all
features/drivers not required for you.
