HI,
I am facing the same problem with Xentrix ADSL USB modem. But I am able to
diagnose the problem.
Let me explain what ewxactly is happening on my system.
I installed redhat 8.0 shipped with pcquest magazine on latest PIV 2.4 GHZ
256 MB RAM with 40 GB HDD with USB support on board.
I am trying to configure the modem specified above to work with Touchtel
Adsl service. The same is working fine on windows XP.
I downloaded the eciadsl driver from the appropriate site and installed the
RPM package. I used eciconf.sh to configure the modem and succeeded
successfully.
Next, when I tried running startmodem it generates error which says unable
to load module usb-ohci and unless this module is loaded I cannot go ahead.
Now, I could see that the kernel support for OHCi was not selected in the
kernel and when I tried following the steps. I am facing two problems.
-- when running make bzImage (/usr/src/<version>/) it starts
running the make config process so I never get to compile and get the same.
-- Probably the next problem I might face to configure the secong image
in the grub boot loader.
I you people are also facing the same problem may be we can share our
problems faced and try to resolve.
