If you are interested in changing the boot splash image then for Red Hat Linux 
see in the /boot/grub directory. You have to replace splash.xpm.gz (gzipped 
xpm image file) with the image you want to be splashed. You can also change 
the name of the image file in grub.conf. You could use "gimp" to modify the 
image.
