I just don't like "the debian way" of doing things all too much, and don't consider it very intutive / usable (that is, I feel uncomfortable using it - i am sure opinions will differ, as I do see a whole lot of debian users, and debian fans, around).

I prefer slackware / gentoo for purity and being as close to *bsd as possible while still remaining linux, or maybe redhat (on the principle of "the devil you know", and on the principle of usablity)
