Hi,
I am having an issue with cd burning speed on my 2.6.4 kernel. I am getting
slower burning speeds with ATAPI mode than I used to get with SCSI emulation
in the same kernel. Both ide-scsi and ide-cd are built into the kernel. On
booting the 2.6.4 kernel with ide-scsi enabled, I get an average speed of 22x
when I pass speed=24 to cdrecord. With ATAPI/ide mode, I am getting around
14x.
AFAIK, ide-cd is supposed to give a better performance. Is there something I
am missing? I have the latest versions of cdrecord, cdrdao and k3b.
dmesg gives the following (in ide mode):
hdd: ATAPI 48X CD-ROM CD-R/RW drive, 8192kB Cache, UDMA(33)
FYI, I am running custom built debs (from 2.6.4 vanilla sources with only the
bootsplash patch) with initrd support.
Regards,
Bhaskar.
