Currently... the "home" and "about" pages are the same... the home page should be something else(something that is constantly updated with happenings in the linux world etc) check out the original about page here... http://web.archive.org/web/20030623015925/linux-india.org/about.html
That was a good idea. I just added the desktop revolution part, and put it up. I was also wondering, should we mention l10n and i18n in "About"? It might be apt to mention Linux in Indian languages in the new destop PC's para.
Another thing, the following line is from the original About file. It is nice, but I personally feel "sitting in a corner, faithfully executing jobs" is too humble. As far as I'm concerned, such a great server occupies centre stage! Do you think any updations may be needed here?
Linux is increasingly being used in businesses as a back-end server. It serves as a file/print/webserver sitting in a corner of a server room, executing jobs faithfully and reliably. Linux will be used more and more in what it does best - as a server.
a slightly updated version of this could be added to the new about page that you are creating.(for eg.. linux is already making it's presence felt on the desktop front etc.)
I just did it. Please do check and make additions/changes wherever necessary. I do think you might want to make a few changes, eesp. in Mission Statement.
I don't know how to change the home site; moreover, I guess that needs to be crafted only in the end, if you want to put latest info and news there.
I've also added some hardware stuff to the FAQ, but it needs a bit more (?). There's no mention about USB; since I haven't used any USB device in Linux (not that I have any such device), I think someone more experienced can add a few lines about USB devices. But there also, in the other sections, I haven't given much; only a basic idea and then a link to the concerned HOWTO.
And I haven't cursed winmodems, though I really wanted to.
After that, we must introduced some post install "getting started" type questions in the FAQ. Do we need to describe the file system talk about mounting etc., or just give bash commands, comparison with DOS etc.? What about window managers?
That will be followed by the "connecting to internet" part. That is another major part, since there may be many details.
I tried playing around a bit before exploring the site entirely .. and created this "orphan node" with 100% duplicated content.

Couldn't figure out how to delete it... so if it's not too much bother.. please delete it.
There's one minor detail: This is the first time I am using a wiki, and I did not bother to read much about the wiki. (I know that's a mistake, but, do I really need to?). But from what I've read in the docs accompanying the site, I think we can't remove pages, only admin can. Isn't it so?
What do we look at next? A release date for the new site? ;-) Just being hopeful, but lets get there as early as possible!
