Try efax and its GUI efax-gtk, man the usage.
You will have to write your fax as a postscript file, try abiword -
print to file.
You will also have to add yourself to the dialout group and chmod g+w
/dev/ttySx to enable dialing through your modem(/dev/ttySx).
