This is usually done on a per switch-port basis. Read up your switch's
documentation and use MRTG.

That won't account for virtual interfaces.

Instead, look at :

ntop (http://www.ntop.org)
or IPTraf (http://cebu.mozcom.com/riker/iptraf)
