The problem with X is how do you define inactivity? Even when you are
not sending any keystrokes or mouse moves to the "server", there is
activity in terms of the "server" updating the display of the
"client". I think your best bet would be to look at some kind of
screensaver utility and try hacking it to log you out after inactive
period rather than locking the screen.
