I just noticed something strange!! I am unable to mount/unmount on a
command mode from the console. 
But if I open the "computer" icon on the desktop(gnome) and click on
sda3, it gets mounted and I am able to 'rwx' on sda3.

I opened a nested login and logged in as a different user. This user is
also able to mount sda3 as above and access it 'rwx'.

So, how are these two activities different ?
