DVD authoring on Linux still has a long way to go in terms of ease of use.

It's basically a bunch of command line tools (mostly beta/0.xx and volatile)
There are some GUI tools which are just wrappers around these tools, and are
version sensitive.

There's a nice detailed howto on the gentoo forums/wiki.. which should see
you through.

Having multiple files and linking them in is kind of easy.. I created a
mini-DVD which was usable with ogle on my desktop in ~2 hours.. but we
couldn't switch chapters using the navigation buttons on my friend's DVD
player... entering the chapter number manually worked though.

I like the mini-DVD concept which allows DVD quality/features on a CD and
considering CD media is much cheaper than DVD media, it's a nice way to
store/share ~50mins of video in much better than VCD quality.
